When Kristen Bell’s new film ‘Frosty’ opens on Friday, there’s no shortage of new moviegoers to check out.
In fact, one movie in particular stands out to me.
‘Frogger’ is the new film from Swedish director Peter Berg, who is best known for his ‘Spartacus’ and ‘Clerks’ franchises.
It’s set in the late 1960s, and features a female lead who is in love with a man who’s played by Martin Freeman, and then the two are forced to leave their home.
‘Sleeping Beauty’ is a big hit with young girls, so why not ‘Frog?’ seems like a natural choice for a film about a young boy in love who must leave his home and become an adventurer in the icy wilderness of North America.
‘It’s been a crazy ride and a very fun one, to say the least,’ Bell told The Hollywood Reporter.
‘I’ve got the best and funniest crew of any actor on this film, and I’m super excited to be playing a kid who’s been through a lot, to see how far we can go.
I’m very excited for all the kids who’ll be watching this film!’
The film is set in a remote part of Alaska, where the temperature drops below freezing, but the environment is a different story.
‘We’ve got snow and ice and there’s lots of wild animals, so I’m hoping kids can enjoy it and get a little bit of a sense of adventure in their lives,’ Bell said.
‘But I also know kids won’t understand it for the first few days, and the first couple of days, but they’ll be hooked.’
The film was written and directed by David Fincher and stars Kristen Bell, John Goodman, Jack O’Connell, Anna Paquin and Robert Downey Jr. The film has been made in Sweden, with the production budget coming in at around $70 million.
‘When we were shooting in Sweden we were told that they’d put us in a really dark place,’ Bell explained.
‘And we were like, ‘No, we’re in a good place.
We’re in Sweden.”
It’s a real-life story, but it’s a really, really dark and cold place,’ she added.
‘This is a film that’s really, very important to me, and it was really fun to do.’
It feels like it’s going to have a really big impact on kids, and a really strong impact on adults who’ve never had to deal with a child in a similar situation.
We had a lot of fun doing it and we can’t wait to see what the kids will think about it.
‘Kids will think, ‘Oh my God, I’m a child, I could do this!’
It’s an incredible story that’s been told and a lot is going to happen in the film.’
In addition to being a child star, Bell also has a career as an actor and director, having appeared in several movies including ‘Masters of Sex’, ‘Sopranos’, ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’, ‘Hacksaw Ridge’, ‘Rent’, ‘A Very Good Girl’ and more.
In 2014, she was nominated for an Emmy for her performance as the voice of ‘Foggy Bottom’ on HBO.
The actress has been featured in a range of films, from the ‘Sister Act’ series to the upcoming film ‘Lovers’, where she voices a character named ‘Poppy’.
‘I have a love of comedy, so this is a dream come true for me,’ she said.
